First Stop. Corfu
Corfu was my first stop on my Greek Island hopping trip. I chose this island because it sits on the beautiful Ionian Sea and is full of history. This was also my first time visiting the Ionian Islands, and I wanted my birthday adventure to start with something special.
I stayed at the Grecotel Corfu Imperial, a huge luxury resort with beautiful grounds and endless sea views. Even though the resort was larger than I prefer, it had many restaurants, pools, and activities right on site. It’s great for solo travelers who want everything in one place.
For my first dinner in Corfu, I chose Yali Seafood Restaurant, a seafront restaurant located right at my hotel. I arrived as the sun was setting and catamarans floated softly in the background. The moment felt magical.
Why Corfu is Great for Solo Travel
Corfu is calm, colorful, and full of Greek charm. The island has beaches, soft waves, and views that make every moment feel peaceful.
Even though my resort was very large, it offered safety, privacy, and so many things to do without ever leaving the property. It was easy to relax, explore, and enjoy the island at my own pace.
Dining Solo at Yali Seafood
Yali Seafood sits right by the water, which makes dinner feel like a dream. The lights are soft, the music is gentle, and the sea breeze makes everything feel cozy and warm.
I ordered:
Seabass ceviche
Lobster pasta
Galaktompoureko (a traditional Greek dessert)
For dinner, I had a local white wine, which I love drinking when I’m in Greece—even though I usually prefer red wine. The staff also paired a dessert wine with my dessert, and it was a perfect match.
The Dining Experience
The food was fresh and full of flavor. The lobster pasta was rich and comforting, and the seabass ceviche tasted bright and clean. With each bite, I felt myself settling into the peaceful rhythm of Corfu.
As I sat there, watching the sunset behind the catamarans, I was reminded of my very first solo dining experience in Mykonos years ago. That unexpected moment — sitting by the sea, eating alone, watching the sky turn pink — was the moment I fell in love with Greece.
Now, years later, I felt that same magic all over again.

Final Thoughts: A Celebration, Not Solitude
That night in Corfu reminded me why I fell in love with Greece years ago. Solo dining by the sea, watching the sun melt into the water, felt like a quiet gift to myself.
Even though every table around me had two people, I felt proud sitting alone. I knew this journey, my table for one, was leading me to the woman I’m becoming.
